Over 11,000 teams from 33 countries competed in the Vex Robotics competition, and the best 450 teams have just fought it out in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Our team is the best. They have won the Supreme Excellence Award, the most prestigious award available. This award recognises outstanding team work, and that we have won it is a stunning achievement. This is the first time in the history of the competition that this award will be leaving the United States, and is a true tribute to our success as a school.
Our congratulations go to Mr David Aston, without whom none of this could have happened and to the team, Jason Collingwood, Levi Chapman and Taryn Kemp. We are so proud of our team’s achievements.

Lowest cost ticket options for using public transport
Auckland Transport (AT) would like to ensure our school students are aware of the lowest cost ticket options for using public transport in Auckland.
AT HOP is a reusable prepay smart card for travel on buses, trains and ferries around Auckland. Students can also load a Child or Secondary Student concession on their AT HOP card to receive discounted fares.
AT has found a large number of primary, intermediate and secondary school students who are still using cash to pay for public transport, rather than using an AT HOP card. Therefore, those children are not benefitting from the discounts on fares that AT Metro provides. Additionally, there are some school age children using an AT HOP card without the correct Child or Secondary Student Concession loaded, so they are not currently receiving the travel discounts they are eligible for.
To assist parents and carers in ensuring our students are paying the lowest fares, visit AT HOP website AT.govt.nz/goodtogo to find out more information.

A very warm welcome to Year 9 parents and students to the college in 2015. I hope that the start of the year arrangements have provided a smooth transition to Glenfield College for your child.
I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday and to have the opportunity to introduce you to your child’s Dean, Tutor Teacher and Senior Staff at the college. Students are also invited to attend in school uniform. A strong partnership between home and school is paramount in ensuring the success of our students.
