Aims and Mission Statement
English Language programmes play an important part in helping students to “develop and clarify their own attitudes, values and beliefs while respecting the values of others” (NZ Curriculum Framework)
The English Language Department ensures that all students have their individual learning needs met at every opportunity. Glenfield College provides an English Language programme covering the following essential areas:
• building up the student’s command of English by equipping them with the four essential skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• building student confidence by providing a culturally sensitive, safe and supportive learning environment where all can achieve success
• using teaching strategies which foster student participation and an enjoyment of learning.
